Frequently Asked Questions.

Q: Are you covered by insurance?

A: Yes, AllergEase has purchased public liability insurance to the value of 2 million pounds.

Q: How long does the cleaning process take?

A: That depends on the size of mattress, but between 15-20 minutes for a single mattress and about 30 minutes for a double mattress.

Q: How long after you've finished do we have to wait before we can make the bed and go to sleep?

A: You only need to wait for the plant-based spray AllergEase use to mist the bed to evaporate off, which should take approximately 10-15 minutes. You can then make the bed and go straight to sleep. You do not even need to air the room unless you want to.

Q: Why can't we vacuum the mattress ourselves?

A: You can, however there are several factors that you should first consider.
  • Does your vacuum cleaner have a HEPA filter bag? The decontamination unit utilised by AllergEase is fitted with a HEPA filter that ensures that 99.97% of all particles above 0.3 micron remain in the unit keeping dust mite droppings, pollen and pet dander in the bag and out of the air you breathe.
If your vacuum cleaner is not fitted with a HEPA filter the chances are that many of the particles that you have removed from the mattress will pass straight through your domestic vacuum cleaner back into the air, possibly causing an allergic reaction rather than reducing the risk of one.
  • How powerful is your vacuum? The machine used by AllergEase is approximately eight times more powerful than a domestic household vacuum cleaner and is fitted with a high frequency vibrating head that assists in dislodging dust mites resident in the depths of a mattress. Additionally, the high intensity, germ killing UVC light radiated by the unit, and the plant based spray that AllergEase use, ensures that any organisms remaining in the mattress are unable to reproduce.

Q: Is there any mess after you finish?

A: No. We make no mess and leave the room exactly how we found it. All you will have to do is to make the bed after we leave.

Q: Can mattress cleaning cure my allergy?

A: No. Unfortunately, AllergEase cannot claim to offer a cure to your allergy, however, the service offered should help to reduce the severity and frequency of any allergic attacks. Many customers have found that their particular allergy disappears altogether, and in the case of asthmatics about 85% of sufferers are allergic to house dust mite droppings, so the chances of us helping an asthma sufferer is very high.

Q: What's in you spray and what does it do?

A: The spray is made from a totally renewable source; plants and minerals. It contains no chemicals, and is non-toxic and non hazardous. It is also a highly effective deodorising and sanitising spray that neutralises and renders harmless the allergens created by dust mites. It is suitable for carpets, bedding, mattresses and upholstery.

Q: How old does a mattress have to be before it is worthwhile cleaning it?

A: AllergEase have found that a new mattress, if used on a regular basis, will benefit from a clean after about 6 months use.

Q: Can an old mattress be cleaned effectively?

A: Yes, most definitely. Mattresses that are old will have much higher levels of dust mites, droppings, dead skin, fungal spores, bacteria and germs. Our process is extremely effective on older mattresses and will make them clean and fresh again.

Q: Do protective mattress covers work?

A: There have been studies that show them not to work effectively. Also, from our experience, whenever we have tested a mattress fitted with a protective cover, the mattress has always tested positive for contamination. However, if you already have a protective cover, or are intending to buy one, then only use them on a brand new mattress or one that has just been cleaned and sterilised by us. If you don't, then all you're doing is incubating the mould, bacteria and fungus that is already present.

Q: Do I need to do anything before you arrive?

A: No. However, it might be a good idea to remove and launder the sheets, duvet cover and pillow cases, as AllergEase do not recommend returning contaminated bed linen to a newly cleaned bed.
